From the Town Square, walk along Church Lane down the side and back of the church to Venton East Square.  Pass between No1, and Babylon and follow the signpost, SW 372 314,  down the tarmac path to New Road.  SW 373 316.  

Turn left.  After 120 m, cross the road and climb the stile into the footpath behind ‘The Turnpike’. SW 373 316. At the end, cross the bridge. SW 374 318. [See note 1 for a return to St Just (1 Mile Walk)]

Turn right.  Walk up the tarmac road, passing the leat at SW 378 319 and Little Waters on the right, and keep going as the road becomes a track.  At the turning for Hailglower Farm, SW 383 319, turn left and walk up past the farm buildings, and continue in the same direction as the track becomes a path.   250 m up the path, find a gate on the right and follow this past Tregeseal Stone Circle; a good place for a drinks stop on a hot day.  SW 386 324.  [See Note 2 for a return to St Just (3 mile walk)].

Follow the waymarkers up onto the moor, with Carn Kenidjack on the left until you come to a waymarked gate at Carnyorth Farm. SW 392 330.  Go through the gate and down the lane, past the turning to the farm and, where the track bends, keep straight on along Watery Lane to the B3318 road to Pendeen.   SW 395 330.  Cross over. 

After 50m, leave the Tinners’ Way which continues to Trehellys Farm, and take the path on the left, SW 396 330, which heads towards a layby.  Just before the layby, take the right-hand path which turns away from the road and follow it for 250 m to a junction of paths.  Turn left and head for the small car park at Woon Gumpus. SW 393 333

Cross the road and walk past the stone milepost towards Trewellard for 125 m before turning left, back towards Carnyorth Farm.  At Watery Lane, turn right and retrace your steps to the gate onto the moors.  Once through the gate go straight ahead.  At the boundary stone, SW 387 330, take the path straight ahead.  (Divert to explore Carn Kenidjack for a few minutes if you have time.) 

At the next junction of paths, take the left fork onto Carnyorth Common, and at the next, SW 385 329, turn left with Carn Kenidjack now on your left.  At the t-junction of paths on Botallack Common, SW 385 327, turn right.  After a further 200 m, take the path on the right heading back towards Tregeseal Stone Circle.  Retrace your steps to the gate above Hailglower Farm. SW 385 323.

Cross straight over onto a narrow path alongside a man-made lake.  Continue until it becomes a track and just after the turning to The Coach House with its high stone gateposts, take the footpath on the left through a metal gate onto the moor. SW 380 324.  Follow the path , cross the sheep stile, continue to the next granite stile, and then walk down the path between tall hedges with squeeze stiles past Caroline’s Wood, SW 376 322,  over a stone stile and into a grassy path beside a field.   Squeeze through the gate at the end, SW 375 320, and turn right.  Follow the path past horse fields to wood and stone stile onto No-go-by Hill. SW 373 323

Turn left.  Walk down the lane to Nancherrow, SW 370 319.  With the gallery on your left, head towards the bridge and turn left onto the B3306 near the bus stop.  After 20 m climb the stile on the left into the field, SW 370 318,  and follow the well-defined church path back to St Just square.

Note 1:  To return at this point for a 1 mile walk, turn left after the bridge and walk down the road to Nancherrow, SW 370 319.  With the gallery on your right, head towards the bridge and turn left onto the B3306 near the bus stop.  After 20 m climb the stile on the left into the field, SW 370 318,  and follow the well-defined church path back to St Just square.

Note 2:  To return at this point for a 3 mile walk, retrace your steps to the gate, and cross straight over onto a narrow path alongside a man-made lake.  Continue until it becomes a track and just after the turning to The Coach House with its high stone gateposts, take the footpath on the left through a metal gate onto the moor.
