Penwith Recovery Project

The Penwith Landscape Partnership project wound up in 2023 and Cornwall Wildlife Trust have taken over the legacy projects.  These mainly focus on farming and land management but there is a substantial objective to “improve access” (footpaths, bridleways etc) in the Penwith area.

To this end, Luke New, their Communications Manager, did a brief presentation to the WCFPS committee at the September meeting. The objective was that we as a society will be able to influence their work programme in a way that we did not achieve with PLP.

During the meeting we gave Luke a list of things that we would like to see them include in their project –

  1. Help WCFPS with tools, facilities and transport
  2. Funding to improve and develop easier to use styles
  3. Promote the growing number of walks listed on our website (100+ so far: walking keeps them clear)
  4. Help WCFPS & responsible bodies to keep PROW open
  5. Financial donation to projects
  6. Help in requesting that the DMMO deadline is extended from 31st January 2031
  7. Help develop ways to improve public transport, parking and access to sites
  8. Looking at ways to support keeping PROW open during planning applications & land sales

Luke is hosting a series of public meetings in our area and there is an open invitation to go along to find out what the project is about and give your views on how they may help towards the preservation of footpaths. See Luke’s Information Flyer
