From the car park at the base of Trencrom Hill SW 517 359 take the track to the left rear of the car park next to the cattle grid.  Just before the place where the track bends to the left and then right, find a path on the right.  Almost immediately there is a “Horse Track” sign – continue on.

At a junction of paths SW 517 363, indicated with a second ‘Horse Track’ marker, turn left heading towards Trencrom. See potential diversion below  Keep straight on and pass through a gate and cross the field to find a stile to the left of the metal gate.

Chances are you will miss the path to the gate as it can get overgrown in summer – if you do, take the next left turn (SW 517 364) that brings you to a stile and the Lelant Downs to Trencrom lane.

Turn left onto the lane from Lelant Downs to Trencrom village.  See diversion below  then take the second footpath on the left, SW 514 366, which leads across a field to a broken-down stile and another road where you again turn left.

The footpath is blocked at the other end – keep on the road and turn left at the “T” junction – as you go up the hill you will see the blocked path on the left  – continue on the road.

At the junction of roads turn right, which leads to Brunnion Farm.  Here, at a junction of roads, find a footpath just to the right of the junction SW 507 364

Cross the field over a stile into another field where you keep to the right edge passing over another stile into a track, at the end of which is a road with a footpath directly opposite.

Go straight across the road, over a stile and turn left onto a track, take the right-hand gate and cross the field diagonally, keeping the hedge to your left and head for the far corner to find a stile behind a cattle feeder at SW 500 361.

Take the path directly ahead and pass-through fields to find a stile in the bottom corner of the last field.  Pass through some houses to reach the road at SW 495 359.

Turn right and at the end of the road turn left onto the main St Ives to Penzance road.

Follow the road through Nancledra, continue ahead, then take the left fork at the next two junctions.

At SW 498 356 take the left hand fork to cross the Red River and follow the road as it bends sharp right at SW 499 356

After the next road junction find a tack on the right at SW 504 354, which is the old Carters Grave Lane – this is a bridleway and is often churned up by horses from the local riding school.

Alternative route if Carters Grave Lane is too muddy – keep on the road to Trembethow Farm.  Just as the road turns left, take the track that leads slightly to the right through a field. Once through the field, turn almost immediately right and pick up the St Michael’s Way on the right.

At SW 508 352 turn right on to St Michael’s Way and follow this through to Ludgvan at SW 504 330.

Turn left on to the B3309 and at Lower Quarter, just after the road bends to the right, find a narrow track on the left next to a street sign that says “Carvossa Terrace”  SW 512 332 leading to the Carvossa Estate.  Join a lane and then branch right down the hill next to a private sign that says “Public footpath through gate down slope”.

The footpath bends sharp right at SW 512 334 to cross the Red River again via a footbridge.  Cross the field bearing slightly to the left to stone steps and a gate, take the footpath directly opposite, following the path uphill, passing through another gate.  Cross this field keeping to the right hand hedge to find a stile, pass through another gate and up some steps to meet the road.

Follow the road straight ahead passing Tregender Manor, turning right at SW 518 343 to follow a lane past Tregellast.

At Whitecross turn left onto the road, which runs into a footpath at Collorian SW 523 347

At the next junction of paths SW 519 353 turn left which takes you back on to Carters Grave Lane.  Follow this track until you once again meet the St Michael’s Way SW 508 352 where you turn right.  Follow the way-marked route through Ninnes Bridge back to the car park.

Alternative route if Carters Grave Lane is too muddy – turn left onto the Lane and then almost immediately right down the hill.  Keep on this track until you reach the road.  Turn left and you are back at the car park.
