St Ives Inland to Lelant with Coast Return (1962 Map 7 Walk 4)

From St Ives harbour SW 518 405, by the lifeboat station, head inland up Lifeboat Hill, turning left into High Street.
Take the second turn on the left, Treggena Place, which leads on to Tregenna Hill, which in turn leads on to The Terrace.
Just past the seating area on the left (note 1) at The Malakoff, take the turning on the right, At the end of this short road, turn left into Pendnolver Road, then take the next road on the right, Porthminster Terrace, and the next road on the left, Talland Road. At the end of this road turn left into Belyars Lane SW 517 400.
Left again on to a path opposite Trenwith Lane SW 515 395, which has a sign for Belyars Bowling Green.
The path turns into Higher Tregenna Road at the school entrance. Just past the school there is a footpath on the right SW 518 393. Follow this path to a junction where you turn left.
At the end of the path turn right into Steeple Lane SW 519 390 and follow the lane up to the Knill’s Monument signpost.
Follow the path up to the monument (note 2), pass behind the monument to find a path leading downhill, pass over a gap in a wall and follow the path adjacent to the tree line. At the end of the path turn right and follow this path to find a lane SW 520 386.
Turn left then right into the lane, continue along the lane passing between the buildings of Carninney Farm then follow the footpath until you reach another lane SW 521 382.
Turn right, then take the footpath, which leads into a lane, pass Trewartha Farmhouse and continue along the lane.
Just past a large (at the time of writing, pink) house on the left find a stile to cross a field, exiting the field over another stile, to join Laity Lane, follow the lane until you reach St. Ives Road SW 533 380.
Cross over the road to join Church Lane, take the second lane on the left, Gonwin Manor Lane, immediately turn right again to the footpath indicated the other side of a hedge. Follow this path which leads around the right side of some buildings. The path continues between two hedges, with St Ives Bay opening up in front you with views across to Godrevy Lighthouse. At the end of this path is a wooden bench to rest on and admire the stunning view.
Once rested continue along the path with the sea on your left side.
Follow this path to the marker post where you turn left, SW 451 382, and follow the path down the hill turning right to follow the path between the railway and the golf course. (Beware of stray golf balls).
At the end of the path turn left to pass under the bridge SW 548 379.
Take the path on the left immediately after the bridge from here follow the Coast Path markers to return to the start point at St Ives Harbour.
