Leaving Penzance westwards by Alverton Road, take the first Left after The Pirate Inn and turn immediately Right. This leads up to the small Car Park in front of Hope Chapel (SW 461 298).
Leave the CP by a small path to the right of the chapel. Keep R onto Ropewalk and then turn L onto Alverton Road, keeping on the pavement towards the roundabout. Just before the R/about a large gate crosses a lane to the L. Follow the lane for 150ms (SW 457 297). A small stile in the hedge on the R leads directly onto the side of the A30.
Cross the A30 and, 10ms to the R, set back in the bushes, you will find a set of wooden steps up to a stile. Cross 2 fields keeping close to the righthand hedge and then follow the track to the lane in the small hamlet of Trereife SW 451 296.
Turn right up the road to the main Penzance to St Just road SW 449 301.
Turn left and walk 20 yards up the road to the lane leading to Tregavarah at SW 448 301.
Turn left down the lane and you will see some cottages. Where the road bends to the left, go straight on, leaving the lane and go up the path alongside the back of “Tom Pointers Cottage” SW 446 300.
The path is largely straight across a couple of fields. The actual right of way goes over a gap in the hedge and along an ancient track SW 443 300. Unfortunately, it is very muddy, so you may want to stay on the field side of the hedge, until you see a gap and join the ancient track a bit further on SW 442 299. The track will take you to the Heamoor to Sancreed road SW 435 301.
Turn right and stay on this lane going towards Heamoor and cross the St Just road. Straight on until you see the gates of Trengwainton on the left. Continue on the Heamoor road until you get to the outskirt’s SW 454 312.
When you see the finger post pointing both ways, take the stile on the right and head along a clearly defined path through Rose Hill Farm (please close the gate as there are cattle in some of the fields) until you reach the Penzance by-pass at Polgoon SW 460 302.
Cross the road and head down a path that becomes Castle Hornick Road which in turn joins Alverton Road SW 462 301.
At this point you should know where you are and can head off home congratulating yourself for having completed a 4-mile walk!
