From Madron church turn left and follow the road until it bears left, here find a footpath on the right. Cross over a stile and follow the well defined path across two fields, then continue ahead on to track. Continue past the Trengwainton Farm buildings and the fields beyond to reach a gate, continue straight across the next field to a stile left of the gate. Take the footpath straight ahead and cross the stream to pass through a wooded area to reach Boswednan at SW 441 309.
Continue straight ahead through farm buildings, then bear left just beyond the wooden barn, at the time of writing, signed as ‘Unit 2’, follow the lane alongside the building, then take the short footpath directly ahead. Turn left to follow a track, then directly across two fields to reach the Heamoor road.
Turn left and follow the road round a right-hand bend to reach a footpath on the right at SW 447 308, cross a stile and stone bridge and follow the path past houses then cross another stile. In the field beyond, keep to the right-hand boundary to pass through a gap in the hedge, head in the same direction in the next field and in the third field keep to the right-hand boundary to reach another stile and the St Just road beyond. Cross the road to another footpath opposite, follow this path across a field heading for the house opposite and cross a stile to reach Dennis Place SW 445 300.
Follow the road ahead to find a footpath on the right, up some steps, just past a small wooden gate. Follow the path diagonally across the field, towards the houses, then over stile and along a narrow path to cross the road to join another path opposite. Follow the path through the woods, then look for a stile on the left to join a footpath across a field. Head slightly right towards the corner of the field, then keep to the right-hand boundary to reach a stream crossed by stepping stones, and pass through the gate.
Follow the path between fences and over a lane, when the path reaches the Newlyn to St Just road SW 451 295, turn left following the sign to Alverton Bridge and then find a lane on the right, signed Coombe Head. Follow the lane and then the track ahead to reach a field. Cross the field keeping to the left-hand boundary to a gate, then cross a stream by stepping-stones and in the next field again maintain the left-hand boundary, before exiting the field by a stile on the right.
Descend the steps to meet the A30, turn left and follow the footpath around the roundabout, then cross the St Just road to find a Public Byway. Follow the track ahead, then ignoring the footpath on the left, continue straight ahead then turn left at the YHA Penzance building, SW 457 302.
Follow the lane to Castle Horneck Farm, then find a footpath on the right, ignore the footpath on the left to continue downhill. At the bridge bear right to climb back uphill and at the end of the path turn left and follow the lane through Rose Hill farm and on to the track ahead. Where the track bends right, find a small path on the left, through the hedge. At the end of the path turn right and then find another path on the right, again through a hedge. Follow this path around the base of the hill then across the field to a gap in the hedge. From here you can see Madron Church, on the hill ahead, keep heading towards the church, crossing five fields and one road to return to the start of the walk.
