This walk starts from Ludgvan Churchtown, loops through fields and lanes to the Tremenheere valley to join the St Michaels Way for a return to the start – about 3 miles in all.
As we can now take a short drive into the countryside for a walk, make your way to Ludgvan village square at SW 504 330 before taking the track north alongside the church. Turn left after about 75 yards into what looks to be a private drive which leads to a stile, with a footpath across fields of agapanthus.
Continue over several fields and stiles to SW 502 334 where you will see another path to the left. Take this path, going up through a large field to the road that goes to Castle an Dinas (Castle Road). Turn right up the road and shortly turn left at a lane SW 500 333.
Follow the lane to where it turns sharply to the right at SW 495 329 – but go straight on over a stile and into a field. Follow this path across the field and stile, turning slightly right back up to the lane at SW 492 329.
At SW 491 328 you will see a pretty cottage on the left with a curious garden. Turn left down the path and into the woods at the top of Tremenheere. After about 50 yards, once in the woods at SW 490 327, keep to the left down the valley by choosing one of the two paths that take you to the stream at the bottom near the entrance to Tremenheere Gardens. This path does not appear on the OS map but is the subject of a Cornwall Council Modification Order and can be seen on their Definitive Map.
Shortly after the entrance to the garden you will meet the St Michael’s Way at SW 495 322 – turn left and follow this well marked route back to Ludgvan keeping left where the path splits at Tregarthen SW 499 323.
