Start the walk by entering Green Lane (Coast Path Route heading south). Follow the road to the railway station SW 547 371.

Turn right into road opposite Lelant Station, Station Hill.  Go up hill and turn left into Badgers Inn car park SW 545 372.

Cross car park and exit into road beyond.  Turn right to go up the hill keeping the Badgers on the right.  (This is the starting point of the original walk, the Lelant Hotel being renamed as the Badgers)

At the junction turn left and cross the road when safe to do so.  Continue down road to find a footpath on the right, just past Abbey Meadow SW 543 369.

Follow the footpath crossing a low stone stile and two gates before the path ends on Tryingham Road SW 541 373.

Turn right, cross the road, turn into Mount Pleasant for a few yards and then into Lelant Gardens before picking up the footpath as the road turns to the right, via a stone stile.

Follow the path across three fields each separated by a stone stile.  After crossing the final stile turn left onto Church Lane SW 544 377 and follow this road for some distance.

When the road bears to the left SW 534 380, turn right into Gonwin Manor Drive, immediately turn right again to the footpath indicated on the other side of a hedge.

Follow this path which leads around the right side of some buildings.  The path continues between two hedges, with St Ives bay opening up in front of you with views across to Godrevy Lighthouse.

At the end of this path SW 536 384 is a wooden bench to rest on and admire the stunning view.

Once rested continue, along the path with the sea on your left side.

Follow this path to the marker post where you turn left SW 541 382 and follow the path down the hill turning right to follow the path between the railway and the golf course.  (Beware of stray golf balls)

Ignore the footpath level crossing over the railway and continue to the bridge over the railway and cross it.

Optional diversion to the beach – turn left SW 547 380.  Follow this path for a few hundred metres before finding another path on the right.  Follow this path to the beach SW 542 384 for a picnic stop and a paddle.  Once rested, retrace your steps to the bridge and continue without crossing the bridge.

If you did not visit the beach, turn right and keep the railway on your right.

Turn right at the junction of paths to pass under the railway SW 548 379, noticing the blue plaque to John Miller (see below).  Follow the path up to St Uny church and return to your car.
