Start from Gulval Church water trough opposite the Coldstreamer public house and take the road north, Quarry Hill. Then take the footpath (Penzance 1) opposite, Menawethan (the house in the quarry).
Admire the view from the top of the lane towards St Michaels Mount and Mounts Bay (See note 1). Turn right at the top of the steps following the path towards Ludgvan .The final field of the three is subject to a DDMO application because the path passes between two parishes, Penzance and Ludgvan. Unfortunately, Ludgvan parish failed to mark the footpath on the definitive map back in 1952 when the maps were initially drawn up.
At the crossroads of 4 paths SW 488 321 go straight on. You now reach the small hamlet of Tolver, turn left up the road. After about 200 yards take footpath on the right hand side SW 489 325 and turn left at the edge of the field
Cross Two fields towards Orange Blossom cottage and follow the path through kissing gate and continue on the path straight on before crossing a stile, (see note 2) into the road SW 491 328.
Turn right onto the road and follow it past Lower Tremenheere farm. In 40 yards, turn right over style towards a small shed with a danger sign on it SW 492 329.
Follow the path into a field and turn left over a stile before heading diagonally across the field before rejoining the road at a stile SW 495 329. Go straight along the road and follow it downhill and up again after Little Treassowe Farm, at SW 498 331, take the footpath on the right.
Follow a well defined footpath to a road and then turn right down into Ludgvan keeping the church and pub on your left. Take the right hand side footpath just past the last buildings on the right SW 505 330.
Cross the road and continue keeping the hedge on your left-towards St Michaels Mount.
Continue down to the road and turn right SW 510 326.
Keep to the right of the road and at the main A30, turn right and cross the road at the refuge taking the path going towards Saint Michaels Mount. Go over style and follow Saint Michaels way sign.
Cross the main road to Helston heading towards the footpath through some fir trees.
Continue on the footpath across marshes using the elevated foot way before reaching the railway line SW 512 316. Be very careful at the crossing; stop, look and listen for trains coming and then continue into the bird sanctuary.
Continue on the footpath across the marshes until you get to a footbridge with a steel balustrade and turn left SW 512 312. Walk to a side road and turn right.
When you get to the main road between Marazion and Penzance, turn right, headed towards Penzance, leaving the road after about 100 yards to follow the footpath along by the sea.
When you reach a wooden footbridge to cross the railway line SW 484 311, cross the railway and then cross the A30 dual carriageway using the lights.
Follow the road straight ahead towards Gulval church and your start point.
